this weekend, heather and i came up to asheville. she is taking her OEMS, which is her state exam to certify her as an EMT. the training is FINALLY over! currently, she is taking the exam, and i am writing this while sitting in a starbucks down the street from the college. and paying for their stupid t-mobile wifi. there is another story behind that…
asheville is a hippie town. there had to be some indie coffee shops, where the coffee is good, the environment relaxing, and the wifi free. so i drove around for about 30 minutes (at $4/gal) to find this coffee haven. i finally found this place in downtown that looked pretty cool. modern. clean. free wifi. so i proceded to park. that was where i went wrong.
apparently if you are going to park in downtown asheville, you need to have money. coins, to be more specific. which creates a problem for people like me who don’t even carry cash, much less change. i hate coins. so i drive and drive making loops around the city to find someplace that didn’t have meters or “employees only” signs. nothing.
i spot a firefighter who seems to be directing the non-existent traffic, and stop to ask her where i can park. she didn’t know of anyplace. so i ended up at starbucks. *sigh*
this afternoon, we are heading over to chimney rock to do some hiking, and just relax now that her training and studying are complete. should be nice. looks like it will be a beautiful day. i’ll put some pics up when we take them.
