ok, haven’t done one of these introspective meanderings for quite some time now. so brace yoruselves.
there’s something i’ve been wrestling with lately, with a new series we are going through at kinetic, called “Feel the Burn”, about disciplines of the christian life. it’s about growing spiritually, and becoming stronger christians.
this is it: how is spirituality measured?
anytime you “grow,” you have something that you are comparing with the current state. whether it is how much weight you’ve lost (or gained), how your endurance is improving, distances you are running, how tall your kids are getting, the status of your portfolio, et cetera. so how do you apply that to the spiritual? everything is spiritual, and there is some parallel in the spiritual realm to growing, but i don’t know what that is.
maybe spirituality is in it’s own category? i don’t think so, but i’m still learning. is it how many hours you spend in Quiet Time or Prayer? your attendance record at church? memorizing scripture? perhaps. but i believe it has to be so much deeper than that. i believe those are simply reflections of how much growing is going on, because you can do all those things and not be growing spiritually. but i don’t know how to measure it.
how do i know that i am growing?

Hi friend,
Spirituality is a topic to be experienced rather to discuss, but every individual is working on himself/herself at a unique level, so one general statement can’t be answered for everyone.
But still I would suggest you that your heart will give you clear indications whether you are growing or not, Just try to put your efforts whole heartedly, in a whatever way you worship god,
