i know i haven’t posted here in a while.  i’ve been busy.  forgive me.  i’ve decided to spend a lot less of my life online.  to start reading books.  going out.  sleeping.  which i haven’t done much of lately.  with heather working and study at all crazy hours, i stay up with her, or get up when she rolls in at 2am. 

we had to replace the trusty old ibook.  something in it finally decided it didn’t like being banged around as it traveled with me everywhere i went.  i would probably feel the same way after being lugged all over in a bag for 4 years, getting dropped and cracked, and left in the trunk of a hot car.  it’s not a fun life for anything.  especially a computer.  so we can now proclaim ourselves the owners of a not-so-new macbook (but being refurbished, you can’t tell).  i always hesitate to get the latest Apple technology.  not because i don’t covet it or think it is amazing.  not because i think they are just going to come out with something better the month after i spend a crapload of money on it.  no, there is a bigger reason.  a deeper reason.   a prideful reason.

i like people knowing that i am not one of the newbies to the world of the Macintosh.  i am not a new switcher. 

the same is true of the feeling i get with my (now one of heather’s) iPod Mini.  but now, the iBook sits alone on the desk, awaiting a new case for the new 160GB hard drive i installed to try to fix it.  and it looks dull and decrepid in the glow of the extra-bright Macbook screen.

so yeah, that’s just a bit of the newness.  i also have a new favourite drink mix.  cheerwine and red bull.  a 1 to 1 ratio of each, over ice.  can’t beat it for flavour and a great pick-me-up.  i’m enjoying one now.  and i think i’ll get off the computer and do some reading.  you should too.
